Isabel F. Mayhew ’22

Isabel F. Mayhew ’22, February 9, 2001, in Seattle, Washington. Isabel attended 91²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ for three years, after which she taught elementary school for 11 years. She worked on a W.P.A. project for five years, and for six years headed an indexing project for the Quartermaster General in Washington, D.C. She also worked as a librarian at the University of Washington for 23 years. Several years before retirement in 1970, Isabel discovered a calling to be a biologist "along the lines of Konrad Lorenz, Niko Tinbergen, and Sally Carrighar." At the time of her 50th-year class reunion, she remarked that her adult years had been truly enjoyable, adding: "Though I can bring very little 'in strength of maturity,’ I am grateful to 91²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ for a philosophy that has sustained me in health and happiness."
