For the first time in 4 years 91²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s Mock Trial team has advanced past the Regional Competition to the Opening Round Championship.

Member of the jury, your honor, may it please the court,

The 91²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Mock Trial team made it to the Opening Round Championship for the first time in four years! Over 700 teams competed at regionals for a chance to attend the Opening Round Championship. Through a lot of hard work 91²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ was able to be one of the 200 teams who advanced.

Overall the team has about 16 members, 7 of whom went to the Opening Round Championship (Luca Patapoutian '26, Andy Lorenzo Salinas '23, Callum Wooster '25, Mollie Boor '24, Daniel Brase '25, Karter Stanton '26, and Mia Fullerton '26). This accomplishment was thanks to all the hardworking members of the team who have been managing their classes and mock trial all year. As Eliana Feinstein ’26 explains “at tournaments, we’re often representing the only liberal arts college in a sea of universities, which can be very intimidating. [and] We’re also the only student-led teams with little funding and without a coach.”

Yet despite the odds being stacked against us we have been able to perform and compete against amazing schools like the University of California Berkeley. In addition multiple members of the team have won awards for being an Outstanding Attorney or Witness throughout the year. Looking forward to the future, this team plans to make it all the way to the National Tournament in the next few years as we continue to look for a coach. As Daniel Brase ’25 states, we have been able “to meet really intelligent and dedicated people and it has been great to be able to work with them towards a common goal.”
